I never met my grandfather but got to know him through our mutual passions and interests: photography. I was given his equipment, which I experimented with while learning what my photographic eye was drawn too. Closed in the bag with his equipment were some rolls of film which had long expired by the time they were in my possession. I used them anyway and fell in love with the results. They felt timeless, like a portal. Sometimes when I look at the work I've produced with his equipment, it's almost as if I'm seeing the world through his eyes.
